Modern Quilter Guy Kevin Is Helping A Humanitarian Project In Africa…Clean Out That Craft Room And Donate Your Extra Stuff!

Quilters are givers!  Here is just another great example.  My friend, Kevin Gard, (a “modern quilter guy”, husband and father), has been working on a humanitariankevin%20%232-thumb.jpg project gathering goods to supply to people in Africa to help them start a small business in a small village…

He has received several corporate contributions, but seeks you, the quilter, to donate any of your extras.

I am not sure if any of you have any extra fabric…of perhaps needles, thread, etc. Ok, I will come right out and say it.  I KNOW you have a couple of stacks of fabric collected for a long forgotten project.  Wanna give it away and make a BIG difference in someone’s life? Do you have an extra sewing machine, or serger collecting dust or know or someone willing to donate one?

Now is the time.

Since it is the New Year and many of us are trying to REDUCE in many ways.  How about cleaning out a closet or drawer in your craft corner and sending some sewing goods off for a good cause.

Here is a note from Kevin about the project:

“A friend of ours, Dr. Israel Inyang, is in need of some assistance. He is theafrica%20village%20hut.jpg founder of the Emmanuel Bible College.  Having grown up in Africa and aware of the many hardships the country faces with AIDS/ HIV, and poverty issues, he has fought against the odds and created educational facilities to teach children.

His current endeavor is to facilitate opening businesses to assist with the poverty crisis.   He has received donations from the Harvey’s “seat belt bags”, the clothing company: Stussy, and Marshall’s.thread%20bowl.jpg fabric%20stack.jpg

His need is simple.  He is seeking out donations of sewing machines, and other sewing equipment.  Ex: scissors, thread, needles, fabric etc.  With these supplies, he intends to create small businesses in the surrounding villages around Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

He wants to be the catalyst to reach people of Africa with educational, social, vocational, and applied technological resources and to create an awareness of God, which will help the Africans face, the challenging global problems unique to the African world.

If you are interested in donating to Dr. Israel’s cause, Emmanuel Bible College, you can contact Dr Israel Inyang at:  iiprince520@sbcglobal.net africa%20village.jpg
